Review, "BANDH BHENGE DAO v 2.0" with Samantak Sinha (Sunny) and Empty Spaces

Samantak Sinha Sunny
12th January, 2011 @ Triguga Sen Auditorium, JU, Kolkata

This was my first experience to see entire empty spaces live. The time I walked into the auditorium it was almost full. From the first song I had a feeling of this will be a successful show and it happened to be one of the most entertaining shows I ever attended. In Kolkata there are countless number of bands. Among them some are very established and some are forgotten in this busy city. But, Empty Spaces is really filling up the spaces to be the next big one if they continue impressing like this.

I believe that the success of any show depends on the communication between performers and the audience. Well, this show had every bit of it. This show mainly featured their upcoming album "Abol Tabol" which is based on Sukumar Roy's collection of poem "Abol Tabol" and after hearing the songs I am looking forward to see its success. The songs are funny, very well composed and have a touch of rock band.

Empty Spaces Live!
The title track of this album will be "Ayre Bhola, Kheyal khola". Actually this is a very brave concept to bring out almost lost Bengali culture to today’s Kolkata, where 90% of the people have lost interest in Bengali. Well those who want to read "Abol Tabol" online can click here. There were many beautiful songs Sunny performed for us like, "Achena Chobi" from their last album "Jibon Britto", "Pecha Koy Pechani", "Burir bari" form their upcoming album, "hosh tha" a Hindi song, few Rabindra Sangeet’s like, "Tumi robe nirobe", "Keteche akela birohero bela", "Godhuli gogono meghe" and finally the show ends with fans request "Kokhon tomar asbe telephone".

The EMPTY SPACES

Over all it was a well pact show. As our blog says Kolkata Videos: Our City Our Passion and people of Kolkata have proven their passion for music by participating in full capacity. I am attaching some pictures and videos along with this review. So, all of you can read, listen and feel the atmosphere of the show.
